Any Rhode Island Oppos here? Yesterday morning we had about a 45 minute storm that knocked out power to most of Warwick, Cranston, and a some points south...but I gather Warwick got it worst.
So now I’m sitting here, almost 36 hours after the storm, with my generator running to power my refrigerator and the windows open on an 80 degree day because it feels hotter inside my house than outside. I might go change the oil in my truck just so I can lay in the shade for a little bit.
It really sucks because my wife is pregnant, so the heat makes her feel sick. But it could have been worse...trees have been uprooted all over the city (Google something like ‘Cranston uprooted tree’ for a great picture of a tree that uprooted and took a guys whole lawn with it) and right up the road, some folks had a tree go down and destroy three vehicles: a Chrysler Concorde, a 2000s Buick of some sort (Lucerne?), and a Chevy truck that the tree is still sitting on top of.
So enjoy your air conditioning, Oppo. I’m going to go cook an egg on my coffee table.

I understand you don’t have power.. and even a slightly-warm day can make an un-air-conditioned house fairly uncomfortable, but 80?
LOL
And this is pretty cool...

Honestly, it’s not the temperature so much as the lack of air flow. The air in the house is stale, if I had power and had some fans moving air, I’d be in much better shape. Plus our heat out here is almost always the humid sort...where you walk out of the house, your glasses immediately fog up, and it feels like you’re living under Satan’s nutsack.

You’re describing where I live.

Can’t even argue that, I thought it was supposed to be a dry heat in Texas?
The good news is that bitching on Oppo was the right thing to do, since the power just came back on. I scared the shit out of the cat with a Clarksonian declaration of “POWER!!!!!!!”

West of I-35 I’d say yes. I grew up in the Panhandle and know all too well the feeling of a hot, dry wind in your face on a 112-degree day.
East of I-35, and especially anywhere that’s within 3 hours of the Gulf, it’s humid. All the time. It’s horrible.
